Jennifer McLean Oliver, PhD, is a user experience research leader and independent consultant. She spent 8 years in UX research at Microsoft working across various products and services including Mixed Reality and Windows. Prior to Microsoft, Jennifer worked for several years as a Blink UX research consultant to a variety of organizations from tech start-ups to established Fortune 500 companies. Jennifer obtained a B.S. in Applied Math, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science from the Engineering School of the University of Colorado at Boulder. She then worked as a software engineer in the space science field with stints at NOAA’s Space Environment Laboratory, IBM’s Defense Satellite Division and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. As a National Defense Science and Engineering Fellow, she returned to school, completing an M.S. in Applied Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Experimental Cognitive Psychology. Jennifer co-authored a book on Cognitive Development called Amazing Minds (2010) along the way to becoming a UX researcher. Jennifer is passionate in her role as a UX Research professional where she leverages her background and experience in both psychology and technology to help build a future in which technology better meets human needs.
