Including All Investors at Vanguard

Vanguard is an investment firm with over $5T in assets managed. Our mission is “to take a stand for every investor” Over the last 4 years, we have focused our effort on investors with disabilities and caretakers. As a Sr. UX Researcher, I built a panel of participants with disabilities and tested our digital experiences to catch any usability issues. I also work with a large population of Vanguard clients who have a disability or care for a loved one with a disability.

This work goes beyond being ADA compliant. I work together with the Accessibility Office to say “Yes, it is compliant. But is it a delightful user experience for someone with a disability?” We believe that ADA compliance is only the beginning, and not the end result.

In this session, I will share how I built a panel and what I’ve learned from clients with disabilities. Then, I will share how we are building a business case to scale this work further in a large organization, as well as what we are hoping to accomplish with this work.
