Nalini Kotamraju, Ph.D. is Senior Director of User Research & User Experience at Salesforce. Trained as sociologist, Nalini analyzes how people use technology in their professional and personal lives. Before joining Salesforce, Nalini led research teams at Microsoft and Sun Microsystems. In a parallel life, Nalini researched, published and taught in the fields of design management, sociology of technology and sociology of work, serving as Associate Professor at the IT University of Copenhagen. Nalini’s interest in people’s technology use dates back to her first job, which was for the historic 1995 NGO Forum & United Nations Conference for Women in Beijing. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California at Berkeley and undergraduate degrees in Social Studies and Women’s Studies from Harvard College.
