How to Identify and Implement a UX Research Democratization Model That Works for Your Company Culture

As Research and Design leaders, we aspire to scale research and the use of insights that come from research projects. We hope that we come up with a win-win strategy for all key stakeholders. We anticipate that researchers and designers understand the value of research democratization and join in implementing a strategy that scales. However, that is not always the case. So many factors come to play when scaling user research especially in a product experience context. Scaling research means starting from the ground up. It means doing more research and enabling ‘others’ to do basic research. It also means doing more with research insights across the company. In this session, we settle the age-old UXR controversy on whether or not to enable others to do research. We go deeper into enabling research through operations, scalable systems, resourcing and training, infrastructure, and change management.
