It can be hard for artistic, creative designers to work closely with structured, highly-technical developers. It’s a two-way deception: to a designer, development can feel completely inaccessible, and to developers design may seem like a simple practice. To combat this, designers should teach developers about their decision making process, and involve them throughout the design process to build confidence. Meanwhile developers should lean on designers throughout their planning process, and plan for late changes that designers make. In this talk, Chris will share the mindsets needed to form harmonious relationships, and share a variety of methods and processes that have worked for him in his work at Microsoft, Imgur, and Purple.pm. You’ll then be able to take those methods and try them out within your own relationships at work.
