Content isn’t just an accessory to design––it is design. Content can instruct, advise, and encourage people to embrace radically new behaviors, from sharing our cars to sharing our homes.
Content also plays an important role in helping Airbnb on our mission to create a world of belonging. We’ll look at how product content plays a central role in onboarding new Airbnb hosts. Throughout a new host’s journey, there are moments where user interface copy can allay concerns and elevate trust, or just help hosts quickly complete tasks and get offline and back to living the trip.
This talk will examine how online (desktop and mobile) content sets the stage for offline, real-world interactions. We’ll look at how to map an online content experience such that the tone shifts as tasks change, content flexes to provide context, and words simplify and shoot through complexity to design better experiences.
