Enterprise Software products are very powerful tools aimed at increasing productivity and collaboration.The reality is that most enterprise software products are designed for a generic audience, and not a specific user in mind since it has to work for a variety of individuals within a team within a company which for the most part have unique variations of the same process. This is one of the reasons why usability for enterprise poses such a considerable challenge and, unfortunately, not enough research has been done related to the topic.

‘Collaboration Theory’ provides a great framework to evaluate interfaces, as well as detect and solve potential issues in interfaces of complex systems such as Enterprise Software. The theory is based on principles of communication, responsiveness, commitment and support between individuals. The idea behind this presentation is to propose a different approach to create interfaces suggesting that a computer system should be designed to act as the user’s partner in the process of goal achievement, creating “collaborative” interfaces.
